Project Results

The YIELDS project is designed to produce impactful results that contribute to youth development, sustainability education, and emotional intelligence training through game-based learning (GBL). The project’s activities, structured within its work packages, will generate innovative educational resources, games, and training programs that will have a long-term impact on young people, youth workers, and the wider community.

  1. E-Book on Sustainability Database Analysis

A comprehensive e-book will be developed to map the sustainability skills, knowledge gaps, and awareness levels of youth regarding sustainability across Europe. This database will provide a transnational perspective, comparing local youth communities from the participating organizations with the broader European situation. Special attention will be given to the post-COVID era and its impact on young people, particularly NEETs (Not in Education, Employment, or Training) and other disadvantaged youth. The e-book will be available in PDF format and freely accessible to the public, serving as a valuable resource for educators, policymakers, and youth organizations.

  1. Sustainability Curriculum & Toolkit

A comprehensive sustainability curriculum will be designed, integrating emotional intelligence as a key component of sustainability skills development. This curriculum will be compiled into a Toolkit that youth workers can use to train young people in sustainability through innovative, hands-on learning methods. The Toolkit will be adaptable to different local communities and scalable to a European level, ensuring its relevance to diverse learning environments. It will be designed to meet the needs of a tech-savvy generation, offering engaging, interactive, and non-formal education approaches to sustainability.

  1. Board Game on Sustainability Skills Development through Emotional Intelligence

A cooperative board game will be created, making it the first-ever educational game focused on sustainability skills through emotional intelligence. In this game, players must collaborate to overcome challenges, developing essential soft skills such as teamwork, critical thinking, problem-solving, and self-confidence. The game will be available in all partner languages and English, and a printable PDF version will be freely downloadable from the project website. This ensures accessibility, transferability, and scalability across Europe and beyond.

  1. Digital/Serious Game on Sustainability Skills Development through Emotional Intelligence

A digital/serious game will be developed as an interactive online educational tool. This game will feature multimedia content, simulated real-world processes, and structured learning scenarios based on sustainability challenges. It will be designed to engage learners through immersive experiences, encouraging interaction, problem-solving, and strategic thinking. The game will leverage the interactive and engaging nature of digital learning, ensuring that young people remain motivated while developing sustainability competencies.

  1. Youth Workers Training on YIELDS GBL Resources (Learning & Training Lab in Greece)

A five-day training lab for youth workers will be organized in Greece, hosted by Amazing Youth. This professional course will provide youth workers with in-depth knowledge and hands-on experience in using the YIELDS GBL resources, including:

  • The Sustainability Toolkit
  • The Outdoor Games Guide
  • The Board Game on Sustainability Skills
  • The Digital/Serious Game

Youth workers will enhance their ability to engage young people in game-based learning and learn how to effectively implement emotional intelligence training within sustainability education. This training will ensure that they can confidently transfer knowledge and skills to the youth they work with.

  1. Youth Training with YIELDS GBL Resources (Learning & Training Lab in Latvia)

A second five-day training lab, this time for both youth workers and young people, will take place in Latvia, hosted by ECRRED. This training will serve as a pilot testing phase for the game-based learning materials developed in Work Packages 2 and 3.

During this activity, trained youth workers from the first training lab will mentor and guide young participants, helping them apply their newly acquired sustainability knowledge and emotional intelligence skills in a collaborative learning environment. The ultimate goal is to achieve behavioral changes that encourage more sustainable lifestyles among young people.

  1. Increased Engagement in Sustainability Education and Policy Discussions

The project will create greater awareness of sustainability issues at the local, national, and European levels by:

  • Promoting the YIELDS project through digital channels, social media, and local media.
  • Encouraging youth organizations, policymakers, and training centers to engage in discussions about sustainability education.
  • Supporting cross-sectoral collaboration between youth workers, educators, and decision-makers to improve curricula and policies related to sustainability and emotional intelligence.
  1. Strengthening the Professional Development of Youth Workers

The project will enhance youth workers’ professional skills by integrating innovative pedagogical approaches into their work. By learning game-based learning techniques, youth workers will be better equipped to motivate and educate young people on sustainability topics. Additionally, the project will contribute to improving methodologies in non-formal education, making learning more engaging, interactive, and impactful.

  1. Promoting Equal Opportunities and Inclusion

The YIELDS project strongly emphasizes equal opportunities, ensuring that disadvantaged youth, such as those from marginalized communities and NEET groups, have access to high-quality sustainability education. By integrating non-formal learning methods, emotional intelligence training, and game-based learning, the project will support young people’s personal, social, and professional development, enabling them to reach their full potential.

  1. Long-Term Impact and Sustainability of the Project Results

To ensure that the project’s impact extends beyond its implementation period, YIELDS will:

  • Freely distribute all educational materials, games, and toolkits.
  • Make all learning resources easily accessible on digital platforms.
  • Encourage continued collaboration among partner organizations to promote sustainability education in the long term.
  • Inspire future projects and initiatives that further develop the integration of game-based learning, sustainability education, and emotional intelligence training.
